Pride, In the Name of Love

Happy Pride Month everyone!  In the midst of the month of rainbows, the UN Council has adopted a resolution that supports gay rights.  In the same day, we heard Republican New York State Senator Roy McDonald declare, "You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing.
You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing.
I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I'm trying to do the right thing, and that's where I'm going with this."

The Obama administration has been a supporter of the UN resolution and the US Ambasador said,
“Today, we have taken an important step forward in our recognition that human rights are indeed universal.  We recognize that violence against a person because of who they are is wrong.  The right to choose, who we love and to share life with those we love is sacred.  Further, we send the unequivocal message that each human being deserves equal protection from violence and discrimination.  Today, we make history in the fight for basic fairness and equality.”

Now, all we need to do is follow through and make sure that all couples have the same right to be a family.
